New KitchenAid Products!
We’ve had some exciting new KitchenAid products arrive in the Basement this week.

The KitchenAid Artisan 2-slice toaster has a variety of brilliant features; perhaps the most impressive is its auto sensor which automatically lowers and lifts toast along with its keep-warm feature which gently keeps it warm - so no more toast going cold whilst you’re cooking the rest of your breakfast! It also has a 7-shade setting with an LED countdown timer to ensure you get your exact browning preferance, and a sandwich function with sandwich rack to prepare delicious, no-drip toasted sandwiches! Of course this smart toasted also features a defrost setting for frozen bread and a bagel function to toast bagels and buns which ensures they are toasted on the inside and warmed on the outside. The Artisan 2-slice toaster is available priced £169 in Candy Apple’ (pictured) and ‘Almond Cream’.

Also new into the store is the KitchenAid Artisan Kettle, which again is not your average kettle! Its smooth, rounded design boasts a 1.5 litre capacity with a dual wall construction which provides better insulation to keep water hotter for longer. It also reduces noise and is cooler to the touch. The kettle also has an adjustable temperature gauge, which ranges from 50°c to 100°c so you can tailor the temperature exactly to the drink you’re making. This temperature gauge also works even when the kettle is off its base so you can keep checking the current temperature of the water long after it has first boiled. The Artisan kettle is available for £119 in ‘Candy Apple’ (pictured) and ‘Almond Cream’.

Jarrold’s Book Choice - The Diary of Mary Hardy
The Diary of Mary Hardy - edited by Margaret Bird
£33.50 per volume for volumes 1 - 4.
The first four volumes can be bought together as a set for £100. Volume 5 is £21.50.

Mary Hardy lived from 1733 to 1809 and this monumental piece of scholarship on the editor’s part (it has taken her twenty-five years to complete) brings to light an utterly fascinating record of the life of this eighteenth century Norfolk farmer’s wife, her family and the social world in which she moves. Only brief extracts of the diary have appeared in print before. Each page within the four main volumes is annotated with notes to help readers through the text, there are many illustrations and each volume has a detailed index. The fifth volume contains, unannotated, extracts not collected in the first four book.
This book and a large selection of titles can be found in our book department on the ground floor.
£15,000 raised in the Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge
On Tuesday 30th April, Jarrold hosted an event in the store’s Café Benjamin for various local charities that they have supported under the Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge. The event was held to celebrate Jarrold achieving the target of £15,000 in their fundraising efforts so far.
The Jarrold Staff Charity Challenge which is administered by the John Jarrold Trust, supports a number of local charities, each of which have been nominated by staff members who have a connection or particular interest in the work of the selected organisations. Money has been raised through various events including the Carols with the King Concert in December, a raffle at the annual staff Dinner Dance, a Quiz & Chips evening and a charity cycle ride to Wales.
Since Jarrold Retail began this new concept in charity fundraising in October 2011, they have raised over £15,000 for 18 local charities. This new initiative enables Jarrold to support far more local charities; here is a list of the new charities and projects helped so far:-

Managing Director, Peter Mitchell said:-
‘We are delighted that our staff have embraced this initiative with such enthusiasm; many of them have been touched directly by the work of these fantastic organisations and are keen to offer their support to the many fund raising activities. We are looking forward to building on the success of the Staff Charity Challenge to date with the aim of raising a further £15000 for local causes.’
